The Holland Clinic

My mission. My vision. What I believe.

“I know what it is to be the woman who falls through the cracks.”

My mission

In my twenties, I spent years struggling with symptoms that were treated separately rather than as part of my whole physiology.

Finding a practitioner who finally looked at the whole picture changed my health, the course of my life, and ultimately made me the practitioner I once needed.

My mission is to make sure women know that there is more than one path to healing.

There is no single treatment, prescription or pathway that is right for every woman. Good care should respond to the woman in front of us: her physiology, her history, her symptoms, her circumstances, her preferences and her life.

Perimenopause is one of the places this matters most. Women deserve to understand what is changing in their bodies, have language for what they are experiencing, and know that they have choices in how they are supported through this transition.

My vision

I envision a world in which women no longer accept suffering as the inevitable price of being female.

A world in which women understand their bodies before something goes wrong.

Where they have access to knowledge, choices, tools and meaningful information about themselves.

My vision is body literacy: women able to notice what is happening in their bodies, recognise their own patterns, understand what influences them, ask better questions and make informed choices about their care.

Body literate. Self-referenced. Sovereign.

Body literacy builds the capacity to understand. Becoming self-referenced changes where a woman looks for information and authority. Sovereignty is the destination: a woman able to seek expertise while remaining an active participant in decisions about her own health.

It is a future in which knowledge about women's bodies belongs to women.

What I believe

I believe women deserve to feel well.

I believe a woman's story is data. A blood test is a snapshot. Her story is the movie.

I believe health is biological, psychological and social. Hormones do not exist separately from the gut, metabolism, sleep, nervous system, relationships, environment, history or lived experience.

I believe there is more than one path to healing, because women are not all the same.

I believe good healthcare gives a woman greater authority over her own body.

I believe a woman should be able to seek expertise without surrendering her own authority.

I believe vitality is a birthright.

The destination

The destination of good healthcare is a woman who increasingly knows herself.

A woman who can listen to her body without fearing it.

A woman who has choices.

A woman who can seek expertise without surrendering her own authority.

A woman who becomes a truly self-referenced, sovereign being.

“That is the woman I needed someone to help me become. And that is the woman I want my life's work to help create.”
